Main Vision

Interaction Logic
Move your palms back and forth, left and right; the lights follow the movement of your palms

When the hands are relaxed, the light patterns change

Hold your fists; the lights freeze in a decorative pattern
When the fists are clenched, the light patterns freeze in a decorative form

When both hands come close, the background image transforms into the surrounding environment

Virtual Street Soise
Background Music
Flip your wrist; the background noise increases

In a public setting, the presentation was observed to gauge pedestrians' level of interest and gather feedback on their interactive experiences.
User Testing
After experiencing it, I gained a preliminary understanding and it sparked my interest to explore more in this area, leading to further exploration.
Areas for improvement in the future could include adding more color options and enriching the forms of the lights based on annual zodiac signs.
Combining these modern interactive forms with traditional culture might attract new attention from those who may not have been interested in this industry and culture before.

Light product with an interactive projection
3
Two parts: a light product design and an interactive projection in it.
Light design refers to the shape and structure of the lotus lantern, one of the traditional Chinese lanterns.
Interactive projection design in this project refers to a cute boy character in a Chinese fairy tale, Nezha, whose personality features braveness and rebellion. Users can interact with the projected outline of this dancing boy and get emotional support from it.
Basic Settings

Pendant light in the shape of a lotus flower in 3D.
Fitted with a projector to project a silhouette of the god of light
In Bathroom
Pendant Light
The most relaxed space for a person to end the day and clean themselves
Person can interact with the projection while washing up
Harmonious ambience

Hanging in front of the mirror, projected in the sink
Placement:

01
Normal mode
Use as a normal mirror front light
02

Projection mode
A person can control the lamp god projection through gestures
03

Full mode
Both change the light colour by sound and control the projection by gesture
Modes Design

Stick the holographic clear film onto the clear PET film.
This leads to a dual-layer film with a different texture on each side.
The outer surface is matt and smooth
The inner surface is clear but iridescent.
Stick the lantern films with the projection sector, by using acrylic adhesive.
Physical computing:
1. Using a sound sensor to control the colour change of the lights
2. Using an ultrasonic sensor to detect user's gesture, and to control the projected image.
Pack the arduino board, projector, LED strip, battery and other components into an acrylic cylinder.

Lantern Making Process
Projection Video
The design of the lamp god is inspired by the character Nezha.
Step 1 :

Use particles as the abstract representation of the role Nezha.
Step 2 :

Controlling the gather of particles by the distance of hand from lamp
Step 3 :

The background of the projection video is lots of lotus petals floating in the air, along with the rhythm of the music.
Step 4 :

Composition of particle light god and lotus petal background

Step 5 :
Final scenario photography
